February 2017 – Recently one of our paralegals, Jennifer Cott, teamed up with Tom Vertetis to win a verdict for a medical malpractice claim in Washington. The case was featured in the WSAJ Eagle Newspaper.
August 3rd, 2016 – Attorney Ashton Dennis is representing the family of a Bonney Lake man who died last year while in custody in the Pierce County Jail has sued Pierce County in U.S. District Court in Tacoma.
October 27th, 2015 – A jury in Pierce County awarded the Washington’s largest medical malpractice award of that year to the estate of a Puyallup woman who tragically passed during the 2009 swine flu epidemic.
November 23rd, 2014 – Attorney Ashton Dennis is representing Mr. Jonte Willis for his alleged lengthy pre-trial confinement against his Constitutional Rights. The State was ordered to provide Mr. Willis a mental-health competency evaluation following his arrest and instead chose to lock him in solitary confinement where his condition deteriorated.
November 21st, 2014 – many accident victims took their next step towards recovery when Judge Costello entered preliminary approval of the class action lawsuit brought against MultiCare for its wrongful billing practices. Up to hundreds of WLC clients will be eligible for reimbursement and should receive notification in the mail in early December.
October 16th, 2014 – The New England Journal of Medicine published an article discussing three states, Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina that set out to reform its malpractice standard to reduce what it saw to be unnecessary care and wasteful spending. The results of the study concluding that by changing the malpractice standard for physicians from negligence to gross negligence had “little effect on the intensity of practice, as measured by image rates, average charge, or hospital admission rates.”
July 1st, 2014 – WLC opened its doors in Tacoma, centrally located off of I5 and adds a number of practice areas including: personal injury, premise liability, abuse and neglect, insurance bad faith (IFCA), and government liability. WLC’s Tukwila location remains opened and is expanding as well. With the Tacoma location, WLC added an additional partner, litigation department and team.
