Â
Phil McGee was a P.E. (Physical Education) teacher at both schools, B.F. Day Elementary School and Rainier View Elementary School, for the Seattle Public Schools. Public documents show that very early into his career, there were concerns about McGee’s questionable behavior with students. Despite the fact that these issues were documented, the Seattle Public Schools permitted McGee to have unsupervised contact with students during school and even after school hours.
During his tenure as a teacher at both schools, McGee coached an all-girls dance team called the “Highlighters,” as well as an after-school ballroom dance class. While coaching and supervising these extracurricular activities, McGee made costumes for his students and gave them rides home.
It has been proven that McGee molested children during the time he was a teacher at B.F. Day Elementary and Rainier View Elementary. McGee plead guilty to child molestation charges and was sentenced to prison. He died in November of 2009.
